04 Quarter 2018

3rd Quarter 2018

The work in your Science Notebook is your grade. Classwork is not turned in.

Classwork is kept in Science Notebooks so it can be studied.

Don't forget anything in your notebook by reviewing it often.

Science Notebooks:
Almost all of a student’s classwork will be kept in their Science Notebook. They were directed to number the pages of their notebooks. Students have chosen which page in their Science Notebook to put each assignment on. Some students have chosen to make a table of contents so they can quickly find their work. At times when assignment grades are recorded, students must show me their work by open their notebooks to specific pages. I don’t collect or accept loose assignments, outside of a Science Notebook, to grade them. Students who organize their work in a notebook do well in this class. In the past, students who refused to keep their assignments in a notebook have not passed this class. This is because they can't show me their work. No work equals no grade.

Late Work and Redoing Work
Late work should be submitted in a Science Notebook for grading. The pages of your notebook must be numbered. Tell me which pages you want graded by writing their page numbers on a note or inside the front cover of your notebook. Work started as "Bell Work"can earn a top grade of 80%. Work not started as "Bell Work" will earn a top grade of 90%. Loss of points for work done incorrectly will start at these percentages instead of 100%. Only turn your notebook in if you want missed or improved work grades. I do not collect or accept loose papers for grading.

Please check the class’s website or with another student for make-up work directions. I do not collect or accept loose papers for grading. Long term assignments can be turned in late; however, there is a penalty of 10% per day after the due date. Students are responsible for all assignments regardless of absences. Students will be allowed the length of their absence to make up work without it being late. If possible, have a parent or a guardian show you your grade online at least once a week. Test and assignment scores can be improved if you are unhappy with what you earned. Tests can be retaken and will receive credit for 90% of what is correct.

Weighted Grading and Assignments:
88% = Classwork
2% = 21st Century Skills
10% = Participation
